Hillwood and Zalando together again. A green warehouse was built near Bydgoszcz
Zalando has moved to the new logistics center in Przyłęki near Bydgoszcz. The “built-to-suit” complex provided by Hillwood Poland features over 100 thousand sqm of warehousing space. The investment employs a range of environmentally-friendly solutions and added benefits for future employees.
The warehousing hall, erected for the web shopping club Zalando Lounge, features an above-standard height of 16 m and over 100,000 sqm. Upstairs, there is an office area of 3280 sqm with a spacious dining area.
The investment features a number of environmentally-friendly solutions. Among the most interesting ones, are acoustic screens covered with vines. The entire building utilizes energy-saving LED lighting.
“What is more, a photovoltaic farm, built as part of the investment, will provide green and free energy for the electric bike charging stations to be used by the logistics center workers. Energy from the solar panels will also be available for electric vehicle users, who will be able to charge their vehicles at preferential prices. Apart from gas boilers, the building will be heated with electrical heat pumps”, says Piotr Łada, Tech Director, Hillwood Poland about the sustainable solutions used at the Przyłęki warehousing facility.
The developer has taken care not only for the hall itself, but also to ensure a friendly environment around the building. Instead of typical lawns, flower meadows were sown, which bring many benefits for the environment, driving biodiversity. The meadows retain rain water effectively, therefore they do not require watering and are extremely resilient to droughts, also creating enclaves for bees and insects.
